KEOKA LAKE ASSOCIATION
Join us Saturday, July 8th
for our KLA 2023 Social-Educational Family Event!
Keoka Lake is our treasure… and summer refuge, but even our beautiful lake is “at risk” to invasive aquatic plants. Over the years, KLA volunteers and LEA professionals have dedicated their time helping to protect Keoka Lake, but we need your help! This summer, co-sponsors, Keoka Lake Association and Keoka Beach Campground, invite YOU and your family to a FREE Invasive Aquatic Plant Training at Keoka Beach Campground, Saturday July 8th from 2-5 pm. Our afternoon event will include:
-
Demonstrations from LEA Plant Scientists: Learn hands-on training about how to identify invasive plants like “milfoil” (as well as native plants to Keoka) from Mary Jewett, LEA (Lake Environmental Association) Plant Scientist.
-
Expedition Tours on Keoka Ride: Go out on one of seven pontoon boats to survey the five most “at-risk” areas on the lake. Tours hosted by Keoka Lake Pontoon Boat Captains and KLA Plant Patrol Ambassadors, who will share their experiences as Plant Patrol Volunteers - helping you to learn what we do/expanding the number of eyes looking out for Keoka and new invasive species! (Boats will be docked and waiting at the campground.)
-
Raffle Prizes: Just for attending, all participants will receive a FREE Raffle Ticket and a chance to win gas coupons and KBC/KLA merchandise!
-
Refreshment-Social: See old friends and meet new neighbors from all over the lake who share your commitment to keeping Keoka healthy! Complimentary pizza will be provided for all participants!
